Hi Roland,
How about stillwater flyfishing? Sniardwy (the lake) has relatively wide and shallow litoral with a lot of vegetation ranging from cattails through nenuphars to uderwater weeds. It is relatively easy to wade in, and the bottom is not everywhere silty. Such spots are rarely frequented by spinning rodders because of more than frequent snags, so fish keeps in there. For an on-foot flyfisherman it is a quite interesting area, particularly early morning. Certainly you could count on trout, but yellow perch, small pike, and coarse fish, including subsurface- feeding rudd will be there.
If you were to try I would reccomend a relatively heavy tackle (#8), mainly subsurface flies, some sliders or poppers, and buggy streamers. And do not forget bring waders with rubber boots attached. Stockingfoot waders are going to keep getting sand and gravel in between the sock and the boot, and the foot of the waders is gonna get torn ratehr quickly. Good luck!
